Through Orchard Behavioral Health, the outpatient mental health program at KidsPeace’s Green Street in Allentown serve adults as well as children. Over the years of treating children and adolescents, we have learned that parents and other caregivers can often benefit from our services as well to improve the overall functioning of the family. The holistic approach at Orchard Behavioral Health allows us to care for people ages 3 to 65 under one roof.

The clinic is structured as an urgent care walk-in model, which allows us to be responsive to immediate needs of the community. This expedites the process of initiating care, avoids long emergency room waits and allows KidsPeace staff to assess the individual, stabilize any crisis and make an appropriate level of care recommendation. In turn, it allows emergency rooms to focus their efforts on treating physical injuries rather than mental health concerns.

Walk-in assessments are available Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm and available at two other KidsPeace locations.

Green Street Services:

Individual Therapy

A form of mental health treatment where a person meets one-on-one with a trained therapist to explore and work through their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, aiming to improve their well-being and personal growth in a confidential and supportive environment; it is personalized to address each individual’s unique needs and concerns.

Group therapy

A form of psychotherapy where a small group of people meet regularly with a trained therapist to discuss common issues, share experiences, and support each other while aiming to improve their mental health and coping mechanisms through the dynamic interactions within the group.

Family Therapy

A type of psychotherapy where a therapist works with a group of family members to improve their communication, resolve conflicts, and understand how their relationships within the family unit are impacting their individual behaviors and overall well-being, aiming to strengthen the family dynamic by addressing issues like stress, grief, or mental health concerns that affect the whole family unit; essentially, it helps families learn to better support and connect with one another.

Tele-health

The delivery of services such as Individual and family therapy, medication management and psychiatric evaluations remotely using digital information and communication technologies, allowing patients to access medical consultations, diagnoses, and treatment from a healthcare provider without physically being present in the same location through Zoom.  Group therapy is not offered virtually.

Medication monitoring

Ongoing appointments where a medical professional reviews a patient’s current medication, assesses their effectiveness, monitors for side effects, and adjusts dosages or prescriptions as needed, with the goal of optimizing the patient’s treatment plan and ensuring safe and appropriate medication use. This often involves discussing the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and any concerns they may have about their medications.

Psychiatric Evaluation/ Comprehensive Clinical Evaluation

A comprehensive assessment conducted by MD, Nurse Practitioner or a Physician’s Assistant to assess an individual’s emotional, psychological, and behavioral well-being, typically involving a detailed interview about their symptoms, thoughts, feelings, and past medical history, to diagnose mental health conditions and determine the best course of treatment.
